Department Programs & Events

Orientation Program. An orientation session is conducted for new graduate students in the Department of Soil, Water, and Climate yearly. Pertinent information is presented at this session as well as a tour of the Department facilities.

Department Socials. There are several traditional social activities which occur in the department annually as follows:

International Dinner. The Soil Science International Dinner party is held in 375 Borlaug Hall. This is a wonderful occasion with lots of food brought by many individuals in the department.

Holiday Party. Typically a mid-winter party is held in December .

Graduate Student luncheons: These are luncheons put on by the graduate students to raise money to fund the Soil Science Graduate Student Association.

Departmental Seminars: Seminars are held at 3:30PM on Wednesdays in 306 Borlaug Hall. All are welcome to attend. The Kuehnast Lecture in the Fields of Meteorology and Climatology is held every fall and the William E. Larson and Raymond R. Allmaras Emerging Issues in Soil and Water Lecture is held every spring.
